At last the Life on Earth! record is here. This is the talented multi-instrumentalist Mattias Gustavsson’s, from the Swedish band Dungen, solo project. Together with some fellow travelling kindred musical spirits musicians from; Dungen (Gustav, Johan and Mattias), The Works, Town & Country and Mia Doi Todd) he has created an amazingly deep and timeless album filled with shimmering vibrant psychedelic folkrock-pop . The basic idea is to make music that celebrates the incredible and absolutely wonderful phenomenon of life on Earth, hoping to spread some joy to any possible listeners. 18 December The band the Bees is releasing a compilation album featuring some of their favorite artists in january 2007. Standout tracks include swampy distortion-heavy blues from Muddy Waters, Shuggie Otis’ achingly beautiful 70s soul, hip-hop courtesy of J Dilla and Madlib’s Jaylib project and modern psychedelia from Bees contemporaries Dungen. 27 November Life On Earth!, Mattias Gustavsson’s (Dungens bass player) solo project, makes their debut gig at Landet (T-Telefonplan, Stockholm, Sweden) Friday the 8th of December . Subliminal Sounds will be releasing Life On Earth!’s debut album early next year. More info here. You will also be able to catch The Guild (featuring Reine and Fredrik from Dungen) who’ll also be playing this evening.
